The weeks seem to be flying past at the moment and the children seem to be back into the routine of school. Please make sure that you continue to take responsibility for all the measures that are in place such as distancing, and continue to consider wearing a face covering when dropping off and picking up your children from school.

New Head and Deputies Appointed

Congratulations to our new Head and Deputies who were officially appointed on Friday. We had a large number of students who put themselves forward this year, it made it a difficult decision as the quality was so high.

However, well done to -

Head Boy - Aman
Head Girl - Parneet
Deputy Head Boy - Kristian
Deputy Head Girl - Mya

Walk to School Week

Although it may not be possible for every child to walk the distance from their house to their school, parents are encouraged to 'drive and stride,' parking further than they normally would and walking the rest of the way. This also means that traffic congestion and pollution is reduced around the school gates.

Coats

Unless the rain is heavy, we are trying to have break and lunch times outside as much as possible. It allows the classrooms to have an opportunity to ‘refresh’, and children like being outside. Please make sure a suitable coat is brought into school now. Due to the staggered starts, we will not be able to let your child into school early if the weather is bad, please keep to the arranged times when dropping off.

Y6 – 8.30am

Y4 and Y5 – 8.45am

Y3 – 8.55am

Healthy Eating

The 4/5 Forest School session last week had a focus on rubbish collecting around the school site. Looking through, they found lots of evidence of sweet/ chocolate/ crisp packaging.  Can any sweeter treat only be brought into school on Friday, please. We are seeing an increase of students now making better snack choices, but we feel more could now be joining in. Some schools ban unhealthy choices, a route we feel could leave some children hungry for the morning learning session, but it might have to be considered.  We want to encourage and promote healthy habits for your children, and so we would like your support by providing a healthier choice for break times.

Flu Vaccinations

A NHS flu immunisation team will be coming into school on 20th November. All children from Year 3 to Year 6 can have the vaccination that is free and is a quick and simple spray up the nose. More details and consent forms will be sent out.

Attendance at School

Please be reminded that it is your responsibility to report your child’s absence if they are unable to come to school. The number of absences are currently unusually high (understandably so) but you must inform us if your child is unwell.

PE Arrangements

On the days mentioned below, your child will need to attend school in their PE kit.

Please note – if your child is doing outdoor PE, it would be helpful for them to change into alternative footwear for the lesson. It can be cold outside now, especially walking to school in the morning, perhaps having a pair of jogging bottoms can help with this.
